The Maritime and Offshore field environment encompassing several players involved in transport and logistics. The advancement of technology in these fields will allow ships and other unmanned vehicles to be controlled from a Control Room kilometres away or even navigate itself autonomously. These technologies offers many new opportunities such as low-cost and convenient transportation.
Advancement in technology has introduced new and better methods to develop smart ports, autonomous ships or USVs and UAVs using innovative systems to optimize their operations and work activities. UAVs and USVs are craft that uses data and technologies to improve the lives of the workers and crew including health and safety, lower environmental impact, higher effciency.
The maritime transport is playing an essential role and it is an important method of transport in international commerce.
Interest in UAVs is increasing, they provide an extra level of safety, are more versatile, capable to land in limited spaces, have a high level of performance and efficiency, come in different sizes, and enable companies to perform tasks that were expensive or challenging before.
Equinor company conducted a test with Schiebel’s CAMCOPTER® S-100, which is characterized by having a rotor to allow VTol (Vertical Take-off and Landing) and it is designed to carry maximum payloads of 50kg (110lb) at medium-ranges.
